Chiesa SS Nome di Maria Rome Reviews
Underrated visit Oct 19, 2010
This is a church dedicated to the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The church was built in the eighteenth century and is more distinctive because of the circular shape of the building. Inside the church, the dome is stunning and covered with a great combination of ivory and gold colours.
The image of the Virgin Mary also hangs in the main altar, and surrounded by this highly ornate frame which is so beautiful that you can barely see the picture in comparison. I understand the picture is paraded in a procession once a year.
This church is seldom visited by tourists and a few worshippers drop by every now and again. This is a great pity, for the church is a stunning little visit in comparison to the grand churches of Rome. Definitely worth a quick visit if you are touring the churches of Rome!
