Chico Vacation Guide
The City of Chico was founded in 1860 by John and Annie Bidwell. With a population of over 100,000, Chico is located in the Northern Sacramento Valley of California approximately ninety miles north of Sacramento, in Butte County.
A college town, Chico is home to California State University, Chico, and is generally quieter in the summers when fewer students are in town. But most of the time it's over-run with frat and sororities who hope from house to house as the campus is located in the thick residential downtown. Bring your beer bong.
One of the highlights of Chico is Bidwell Park, which is approximately 3,670 acres, and offers amazing hikes, swims, mountain biking and picnicking.
