So that's the deal: The Chicago art institute have free entrance for the entire month and I set my mind to go and visit it!
Sound easy or like fun? not really in my case! took some nice photos of how it's look there in downtown when it's snow, but also get myself with a fever! not much of a fun! but, right now, after about 24 hours in bed I'm doing much better and can go back and tour the art institute some more! it's look like a great one!

The departure day has finally arrived! And we are ... ready. Really. Amazing, but true. Passports have been updated, extra photos stowed for future visas; Chinese visas have been secured (we'll take care of India...later); locations have been researched and travel books have been read (and reread); reservations have been made and flights have been booked for the first two months of travel; luggage has been packed and tested then repacked and retested; travel checks have been purch...

“Downtown Chicago is home to more than 100 sculptures, mosaics and paintings in plazas, lobbies and on the riverwalk. The dedication of the ‘Chicago Picasso’ in 1967 confirmed that Chicago was a city for the arts…an open-air museum”
[The Chicago Public Art Guide]
I picked up this guide whilst strolling around the parks on Saturday, and so on Sunday I got up bright and early, slapped on a load of factor 30 and headed to the loop to check out some of the 100 monumen...

Once we got to Chicago we decided we were far enough ahead of schedule to stop back in River North for lunch. My plan was to hit a local restaurant, instead of a chain. Pizzeria Uno was at the top of my list. But I wasn’t sure were it was at and I didn’t feel like digging thru everything to find it. But, we got lucky and found it anyway. But, there was a wait and we didn’t have time to risk it. Chicago traffic sucks and I wasn’t sure about checking in at the airport either. So we ende...

Today marks the last full day I'm spending here in Chicago, and this is where I go out with style.
First thing is first... gotta eat. Yuefan and I drew up the entire day plan so that we could get through everything without a problem or time conflict.
Most of our day was centered around Navy Pier, but before that we watched Ultraviolet. It didn't make quite as much sense until I left the theater... but that's besides the point.
We walked to Navy Pier, ...

I'm kind of impressed with how nice people are in Chicago. It's been freezing cold, and it's been snowing almost nonstop so Christine and I didn't go out that frequently, except to eat!! =) There are about a thousand steakhouses here in Chicago, with my favorite one by far being Capital Grille. The city is very pedestrian friendly. All buildings are these gorgeous historic ones with ornate details that have really stood the test of time. We have some of those in NY too, but there are also a g...

So one of the things that I love about Chicago is that people have the ability to do special events on boats. Amazing really. I love the water so any chance I can get, I try to be on the water. So when my friend told me I could be his plus one to his coworkers wedding, which happened to be on a boat, I jumped at the occasion. The cruise boarded at 7:00, which actually turned out to be 7:45, but who is counting. We were on a smaller yacht, which was way more perso...

I rode the train into the city as a bitter cold wind threatened rain. After walking east through a canyon of towering skyscrapers, I found Millenium Park. The 24.5 acre park is Chicago's center for art, music, architecture, and landscape design and is one of the city's most popular attractions. A freezing drizzle stung my face and head as I dashed across Michigan Avenue to ogle a giant kidney-bean shaped sculpture by the British artist Anish Kapoor. Dubbed ...

My girlfriend, Melissa, and I arrived in Chicago around noon. We had drove from Indianapolis to do some cheap, last-minute Christmas shopping in Chinatown and, more importantly, attend our first TravBuddy meet & greet. Upon entering the city, we immediately headed for Chinatown. I had never been to Chinatown but Melissa had been to the (much bigger) one in New York. She tends to be a little wary of unfamiliar places but is usually comfortable when she is with me (Vegas was a different sto...

There was no direct flight from Miami to KC, so I had to take a connection in Chicago. I was thinking about sleeping in the plane, since I didn’t sleep at all the night before and didn’t want to arrive tired to KC. Usually I travel alone, that’s why I’m always wondering who’s gonna sit next to me. Hoping he or she might be a nice person, who I can talk to. But this time I was so tired, that I didn’t care about it. I was almost falling asleep, when somebody starte...
