Chiang Mai Thai House Reviews
Very nice and good for value boutique hotel Jun 19, 2011
Found this after getting down the Chiangmai Train station and going to teh "Tourist information" table. They offer to bring us to the hotel from the train station with no strings so if you dont like it, you could just walk away and look for other places.
The pictures look nice and when we arrived it really look like a pleasant boutique hotel. The A/C room if 700 while fan room is 400 for both cases of single or double occupancy.
I stayed on A/C for the first night and fan room for 3 more nights. For A/C room, bath and face towels are provided as well as shampoo and liquid soap. For fan room, only bath towel and mini bar soap. The A/C doesn't seem to be powerful and I don't see much difference in terms of temperature comfort when I moved to the fan room. The fan room I was given is very spacious and theres a huge window that allow sufficient air to come in. Only one roll of tissue is provided per room regardless of type and number of guest per room.
There's TV with cable channels and the bathroom is for hot & cold shower.
There's a nice and medium sized pool on this hotel which I used and it was quite pleasant. Open 8am-8pm.
They have a small but nice open air restaurant at the ground floor beside the reception area. I had lunch of chicken green curry rice which cost around 50baht and watermelon shake for 25baht.
There's also a tourist information desk who are always willing to answer questions of guests regarding on how to go around or book tours. Tours are also offered by the hotel and could arrange tuk-tuks, cab, van for your tour or airport transfer.
They have free wifi and also a computer room with around 6 computers for guests to use with internet access for free. Open until 10pm only and no printing capability.
Location is very central right in the middle from sunday market, old town and night market.
I learned there are cheaper ones for half the price but without the pool and the TV and supposedly smaller too. When I walked around, found a nice boutiques hotel for 400-500baht on aircon room but rooms are smaller and not as centrally located. Considering my big room and the inconvenience of moving, i chose to stay :)
