Typical show in Marrakech Feb 04, 2009
Around 5.30 we went back to the Riad, as at 8pm we were heading to the Chez Ali Show. The show includes dancers, musicians, acrobats, horsemen and a typical dinner. Everyone I know who has been in Marrakech has visited the place to see the show.
For the whole evening (from 8 to 12) you pay 45 euros, which is not bad if you consider the time you spend there and the food you have. Would I recommend it to you? Honestly… no, I would not. I just felt was too touristic and very artificial. However, if you are a big group and you want to have some drinks and have fun together, that might be the place. It is also true that there are not too many places open at night, so it is an option. Be careful with prices, as the ticket includes dinner but not the drinks. Half a bottle of red wine came up to be 100 Dirhams, which is not bad! ☺ The place is about 20 minutes from the Place Jamaa El Fna by car. They always arrange the transportation for you. You can book it straight in the hotel/Riad... Part of the 4 days trip to Marrakech travel blog |

As we pulled up to Chez Ali there must have been 50 other vans and 25 tour buses already there. Men in custom on horses lined the entrance and apparently we were going to see Fantasia. Overwhelming is all I can say about walking into the place. There… Weekend in Marrakech (or is it Marrakesh?, depends what country your from I guess) |

A night out at a
local fantasy show (Chez Ali) was an elaborate and enjoyable affair
(yet more couscous and tagine!), an afternoon spent quad biking across
the Palmeraie area with just the guide for company (a private tour,
booked as a group session - result!), and a blindingly brilliant day
out spent at the wonderful… A brief dip into the ether |
