a touristy but fun 1001 night experience Jul 08, 2011
Chez Ali is great fun to experience a bit of the local culture and history. I would recommend it more for bigger groups as apposed to a romantic couples evening. When you arrive you walk through "Ali Barber's cave" displaying the traditional wedding attire from the different regions of Morocco. Then you walk through the folklore musicians dancing and playing their instruments - also all dressed differently according to their regions. A huge traditional feast is served in Bedouin tents and after you go into an open- air arena for the show. Their are horses charging with rifles shooting, acrobatics on (and off) the horse, a belly dancing girl, fireworks, and even a magic carpet!

Nice Folklore Show ! Jan 04, 2011
Chez Ali is nice local folklore show with many artists!

In the famous Marrakech Palmeraie and a warm and appealing ambiance, Chez Ali receives you for illuminating your 1001 nights parties!

Each evening, under Berber tents decorated with carpets, Chez Ali proposes you an exceptional show dinner with fantasia, fireworks, folkloric music, dancers, acrobats, magicians...

The meal wasn't something special and by my opinion was poor , but the show was amazing !

I recommended to you if you want to see them show but get there full of food :)

Also some photos available , most of them to the main page of Marrakesh journal entry !

Typical show in Marrakech Feb 04, 2009
Around 5.30 we went back to the Riad, as at 8pm we were heading to the Chez Ali Show. The show includes dancers, musicians, acrobats, horsemen and a typical dinner. Everyone I know who has been in Marrakech has visited the place to see the show.

For the whole evening (from 8 to 12) you pay 45 euros, which is not bad if you consider the time you spend there and the food you have. Would I recommend it to you? Honestly… no, I would not. I just felt was too touristic and very artificial. However, if you are a big group and you want to have some drinks and have fun together, that might be the place.

It is also true that there are not too many places open at night, so it is an option. Be careful with prices, as the ticket includes dinner but not the drinks. Half a bottle of red wine came up to be 100 Dirhams, which is not bad! ☺ The place is about 20 minutes from the Place Jamaa El Fna by car. They always arrange the transportation for you. You can book it straight in the hotel/Riad...
