Old City Café May 17, 2017
Chess Café (“Shahmatnoye” in Russian) must be one of the oldest cafes in this city. It is located in the Old Town, in the park behind City Council buildings.

The café has a bar hall and two halls: one located to the left (the billiards hall) and another one located to your right as you enter. In addition, there is a small banquet hall for a company of ten persons. It is located to your right as you enter the door. The small banquet hall has a fireplace heated by firewood, and it is not forbidden to smoke inside.

The café offers dishes home cuisine, among which the traditional shish kebab.

Also, you can have your business lunch here (UAH 32). They have two sorts of draft beer: Chernihivske and Zhiguliovskoye from Lysychansk. You can order a beer plate for your beer (assorted sausage, fish, cheese).

My favorite dish was shish kebab with fries.

No chess boards inside...It is only a name. The first owner must have been an ardent chess player and went there for chess and tea with his friends...
