Chernyakhovsk Vacation Guide

Today's Chernyakhovsk is an ancient East Prussian town which used to be called Insterburg until 1946. The town was found in 1336.
During its long history Chernyakhovsk saw Prussian and Russian troops of the 7-years war in the middle of 18th century, Napoleon's Guard walking down its streets on their way to Russia and back in 1812, Soviet fighters and British bombers in its sky in 1944. Red Army entered into the town in January 1945.
Funny enough, according to some sources, Insterburg was the first German city where trolleybus line was launched in 1927!
Despite it fairly neglected look, Chernyakhovsk still keeps its charm and has something interesting to reveal to an attentive and interested tourist.
