I visited Chenonceau château on the river Cher today.  The château, built in the 1430s, was used by several mistresses and wives of kings of France, although not at the same time, for obvious reasons.  Catherine de Médici was a famous resident, and the château was the site of the first fireworks display in France, upon the accension of Catherine's son François II to the throne.I thought it was interesting that that during World War I the gallery was used as a hospital ward...

Travelling around Europe for 2weeks (AMS-GER-FRANCE-BELGIUM). Exciting country for most of its medieval architecture, chateau and cultural sites which deserves protection for the benefit of all humanity. So, lets start to drive around and see some part of Europe.

In the fall semester of 2005 I had the chance to live in Valbonne, France while I was studying. It was this that gave me my jumpstart in travelling. The chance to have a place I could come back to while I was in Europe made much easier for me to travel the continent pretty much every weeked. Not only did I visit some cities outside France, but I also got the chance to visit some nice French cities and towns along the way. Evidently Paris was at the top ofthe list.
