Chemical Workers' Leisure Center, located at 37 People's Friendship Boulevard (former Lenin Street) belongs to Ostchem Corporation. It offers a lot of amateur activities for the families of the employees of Ostchem, as well as for city residents.

Chemical Worlers' Leisure Center was dedicated in 1967. You can see the performances of the Youth Theater at its stage. The Youth Theater is one of the numerous amateur activities teams that are based at this leisure center. This theater won the title of the “People’s Theater” after staging “Romeo and Juliette” at the Ukrainian youth theaters contest in Kiev. The company of the People’s Youth Theater staged over forty performances within the years of its existence.

The amateur activities include amateur dance groups, choirs and even an amateur circus. Now the leisure center provides work with eleven creative teams, which engage more than five hundred of Severodonetsk residents of all ages. This is where they develop their talents and join the art, dream to step onto the big stage. Moreover, many of them really manage do it! Those teams hold traditional festivals that attract huge attention of city residents and enjoy great popularity, making this leisure center a big cultural hub of Syeverodonetsk.

Here are some of the names of those studios:

Chemical Workers' Leisure Center is called the Temple of Culture in Syeverodonetsk.

A lot of different concerts are held at the stage of this leisure center.

Also, there is Allegro Bar inside the leisure center where different parties are ordered and held.

Until recently there was a Lenin monument in front of the leisure center. The city residents decided that Lenin represented Ukraine no more and did away with the statue. Even the pedestal was removed and a nice flowerbed was built on its place.

Chemical Workers Leisure Center holds annual Open Day at the end of September. The performance attracts hundreds of spectators – the chemical corporation employees and other city residents. Open Day always makes full house concerts. You will hardly find any empty seats in the Big Hall on the Open Day. This festival was held in 2015 under the slogan, the Palace where holiday lives. The brilliant performance once again proved that this leisure center is a great cultural hub Severodonetsk, and perhaps of the entire region. Despite the difficult times, the employees of the leisure center do their self-sacrificing work and the amateur artists continue to delight spectators with amazing performances that make people admire the talents of young and not-so-young amateur performers.

The final competition of the Annual Vocal Show is held at Chemical Workers’ Leisure Center on the fourth weekend of November. Twenty amateur singers, employees of Azot Corporation, took part in this show as finalists in 2015. The hall was packed on that day. The participants performed in four different genres: Folk Tone, City Fusion, Rock Galaxy, and Classic Mix. The cultural departments of the regional state administration and of the city council took part in this performance as jury members. The contest turned out to be a success and a pleasant concert indeed.

We dropped in at this leisure center that we call palace of culture here. It turned out that a New Year’s Day performance was about to start. We asked the receptionist lady and since it is a closed private institution, she brought us to the director’s reception room. I had met Helen the director before, when I was writing previous tips about this cultural hub. Helen not only allowed us to enter the foyer, but also invited us to attend the performance presented by the amateur artists that master amateur activities in the studios of this leisure center. She said their artistic level was very high and that we would not see anything like that in the entire Ukraine. We thanked her and gladly accepted her invitation. We stayed in the hall for some time and then left.

The New Year’s Day Performance was called New Year Fairytale from the Bottom of the Sea. It was a great combination of songs, dances and amateur circus performance.

The amateur actors presented a musical production of "The Little Mermaid" after the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. According to the scenario, Ariel the Mermaid does not attend the New Year's Eve concert, hosted by the court composer Sebastian the Crab. As punishment, his father, Triton the Marine King sends her "To the shell!" In her "apartment" the mermaid stores the objects of human life found on the bottom of the sea. It is her long-time (and, it would seem unrealizable) dream of the world of people.

At the same time, side by side, or rather slightly higher, a ship with Prince Eric on board crashes. Saving the prince, Ariel takes him to the shore... and falls in love with him. She is happy! Suddenly Ursula the Witch comes to the "sea surface". The salty waves almost covered the kids sitting in the front rows. The witch, an outcast of Triton’s palace, with the aim of returning to her hearth and home, offers the little mermaid a cunning agreement, by which Ariel takes a human form, but is deprived of her wonderful voice. In response, Ariel must make the prince kiss her, and she almost achieves it. However, Ursula the Witch intervenes into the plans again. For the happiness of his daughter, Triton is even willing to sacrifice his crown - to give up his power into the hands, or rather tentacles, of the witch. But everybody turns against her. The power of love of the Prince and Ariel cannot be defeated! Thanks, amateur artists and best of luck in the future!
