well a matter of fact, there are two surfing spots with a great medium wave you can go.

1. The Pelabuhan Ratu, ( 'Queen's Port' is the free translation in English) is the closest surfing spot from Jakarta located at the southern coast of Java. you can reach this place within 3 hours drive from Jakarta. Public transport are sucks, but you can try rental car (i'll find some detail infos 4 you), hotel or hostel are very cheap, will cost you around 7 -20 dollars, cafe or pub also there, take a look: www.karangajibeach.com

2. Second one is the best one, though the distance is quiet significant. It’s the Batu Karas area near the small city of Banjar, Ciamis. This place known as the surfer's hidden paradise, not so many people knows where it is except for some prof and semi prof surfer. A friend of mine who used to be a professional surfing athlete in Hawaii visits this place in every two or three months. The hotel povides various options of room, pub, and travel services.
