Chattanooga is located in Southeast Tennessee near the border of Georgia at the junction of four interstates. At a population of about 155,000 and a total area of 143.2 square miles, it is the 4th largest city in the state. The most prominent natural features in and around Chattanooga are the Tennessee River, Missionary Ridge and Lookout and Signal Mountains.
Chattanooga is the site of several Civil War battlefields. There are many attractions such as the aquarium, the museums, and the Appalachian Trail bring thousands of people to the area. There are several well known events here like the Riverbend Festival and the Fall Railroad Color Cruise. There is the Creative Discovery Museum for children. Chattanooga is home of the NCAA Division I-AA national football championships and hosts the national softball championships every year.
There are many attractions for people that love to do things outdoors, including hang-gliding, hiking, mountain climbing and caving.

Colin, Eli, and Phil picked me up around 7:30 Sunday night.  Our goal was to see the U.S.  No timetable, no schedule.  Just go.  Go is exactly what we did.  We started off, heading up I-24 towards Nashville.  I drove through Tennessee and Kentucky.  Being familiar territory to me, I didn't need the map to navigate.....::4 college kids, half of us graduated, half of us with a semester left.  Ill-planned (that was the point), ill-incomed (we were planning...

I also took a small group of my Youth Group (Orlando, FL) Spelunking in Tennessee; I am sorry I could not tell you exactly what caves we went into; I know it was near Chattanooga, TN.  We camped out…one of the kids through gas on the fire and flames went up to 90’ tall….I ran grabbed some water in a bucket and cut the fire horizontally to stop the fire from going any taller and catching the forest on fire!  The next day we went to a small cave area and camped there too.  ...
