Chattanooga is located in Southeast Tennessee near the border of Georgia at the junction of four interstates. At a population of about 160,000 and a total area of 143.2 square miles, it is the 4th largest city in the state. The most prominent natural features in and around Chattanooga are the Tennessee River, Missionary Ridge and Lookout and Signal Mountains.
Chattanooga is the site of several Civil War battlefields, the main one being Chickamauga Battlefield just across the border into North Georgia.
