Chatsworth House Feb 19, 2017
In the south of the Peak District, Chatsworth must be one of the most magnificent stately homes and estates in the UK. Home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, parts of the estate date back 450 years -- you really need a full day here to see both the house and the enormous gardens. The house is full of treasures collected over hundreds of years and the gardens are just fantastic -- 106 acres (42.4 hectare) of varied botanical and water features, including the Emperor Fountain which rises to a height of 260 feet (80m); the water Cascade (especially popular with children who like to paddle!); the maze -- although quite small, not an easy one to find your way to the centre; the magnificent main lawn behind the house; woodland paths, the Rockery -- there's so much to see -- you need at least half a day to see the gardens alone.
