A marvel for children - of all ages Aug 30, 2010
OK - so the 'terrifying' knights who emerge to chase children will only seem marvellous to children of child age but the general structure of the castle is a knock-out for any age.

In general tourism in Belgium brings to mind the great cities of Flanders but there are some splendid sights in Wallonia as well, that tend to be forgotten. Bouillon is in the Belgian Province of Luxembourg, not to be confused with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg which is an independent country. Trains from Brussels to the latter Luxembourg stop at Livramont, from where a bus runs to Bouillon.

Here the river Semois curls around like a drawing of the first stage of the formation of oxbow lakes. In one of the curves is the Chateau Fort. It is entered over no less than three drawbridges and then you can explore towers, dungeons and ramparts. What more could a child want?

My photo was absurdly dark but the Chateau Fort can be seen just to the right of centre in the one I have submitted here,
