Charlotte Vacation Guide
Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities in the USA. The banking industry has brought many people to the area and it has grown tremendously in the past few years.
Downtown Charlotte, affectionately called Uptown by the locals, is the home of many bars, restaurants, and attractions, and is one of the cleanest and prettiest major city downtowns you will find. As you move out of the Uptown area, there are all sorts of museums, outdoor attractions, and little corners of the city to discover. From the giant old houses in Myers Park to the artsy folks in the NoDA, there is something in town for everyone and don't forget about the giant NASCAR community in town! The speedway in Concord is just northeast of the city as is the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Just a few miles out Hwy 74 you will find one of Charlotte's newest additions, the U.S. National Whitewater Park.
If you're looking for bike routes or hiking trails, look a little further. Freedom Park, Charlotte's 98 acre public park, is located in Dilworth, and always has activity. Beautiful Lake Norman is just a short drive north. There is also a whitewater center not too far from the city which offers kayaking, hiking, biking, climbing, and much more. Not to mention that the mountains are two hours to the west and the ocean is only a little more to the east! Come, stay, then pick where you're going next!
