Private Ski-In Ski-out Resort - a magical wonderland! Oct 02, 2011
Charlotte Pass Ski Resort is situated in the heart of the Snowy Mountains, and is only accessible by oversnow transport - No cars! It is the highest resort in Australia, and receives the most consistant snow coverage during winter than anywhere else in Australia.

Lift tickets from Charlotte Pass start at AU$73 for the day. The resort has several different skiing options - such as the freestyle terrain park, childrens play park, night skiing, races, cross country runs and flare runs. If you dont have your own equipment and gear, you can hire it from the resort, but the prices are by day and can be very very expensive - a better option would be to hire from Jindabyne or Cooma and take it with you to the resort. You can also have private or group lessons, but these are very expensive, but if you don't know how to ski, worth it - unless you are travelling with a friend who doesnt mind teaching you for free :) Even though Charlotte Pass is not accessible by car during winter, you can still do day trips which include return oversnow transport, lift passes and lunch at the resort. From the resort you can see the whole mountain, and there are only five lifts giving you sufficient variety from bigginers to advanced.

The Resort has several bars and restaurants which are open every day. The Cellar Bar even has live music :) The best thing about the resort is because there are only a limited amount of people staying at one time, there are no long queues for chairlifts! This made our trip here even better, as we got more runs in during the day. You can also ski right out the front door to the lifts, without trudging in your snow boots. Staff were very friendly, and able to answer any questions we had. The rooms are a decent size, clean, tidy and very family friendly. Some parts of the resort looked like they needed to be revamped and refurbished, and I hear that they are in the process of doing that this year.

I am desperate to go back to the resort, and recommend it to anyone looking for the ultimate skiing vacation, whether as a single, with your partner or family!
