Forgive me this entry as I was exhausted when I wrote it. I'll revamp it once I get back to LA but Charleston was simply a lot more wonderful but a lot more complicated than I thought it would be. I would say I might be overthinking things, but for someone without a great context of what happened in South Carolina, I am only left with what could be misunderstandings and wonderment. What a fab city!!So I woke up super late today because I couldn't sleep until 2am as I'm still struggling with th...

The South Carolina Aquarium was our destination on Monday morning. We'd seen it on the way to the Fort Sumter the previous day. The centerpiece is the large glass walled tank. Numerous varieties of regional sea life could be seen, including a shark that kept making circles in fornt of the window. It seemed to be staring back. In another part, a diver working on part of the tank was happy to interact with the onlookers. Outside, metal sculptures of frogs, cr...

Lakesha aka krazekeke and I decided to go downtown on a Monday rather than Sunday hoping it won't be so crowded Well, we were wrong. We ended up parking on the top floor of a garage, luckily not on the roof I wanted to return a t-shirt at Del Sol but they only do credits. They don't do refunds and they don't have gift cards. Well, that just sucks. So I ended up buying four nail polishes. Maybe I can sell them on eBay. All of their p...

From Santee we took the Interstate 95 southbound then the Interstate 26
eastbound to Charleston. Our first stop...Fort Sumter National
Monument. There was no entrance fee to the monument but there was a
fee of $14 per person for boat transportation to the actual fort
located at the entrance of Charleston Harbor. Since our departure from
time from Liberty Square was at noon, we decided to roam around
downtown Charleston.We
headed south of Liberty Square on C...

This past weekend, Jay had his department's retreat in Charleston and I couldn't miss the chance to visit this city. Although I have been there for four times, I can always use a short vacation :) There is good amount of history, great beaches and good seafood in this citiy. Although I like the architecture and the sense of the city, King Street which is one of the main streets , seemed to be a bit like a big open air mall. Yes, the buildings are old, but the names on the buildings are nothin...

I am sitting here trying to reflect on my trip. I have had many people come up to me and ask how it went. I don't know how to explain such a huge experience in a few sentences. Most people ask how a trip went and are expecting a short response. I haven't really figured out how to put it all into words. There are so many different aspects to talk about. I have been trying to focus on one topic when trying to explain.
We had several reflection times while in Ghana. We met with the whole group...

For your final day I recommend just staying Downtown and visiting the shops, restaurants and art galleries. Walk down the same historic cobblestone streets that our ancestors and important historical figures have in other lifetimes. Take in the slower pace of life, alot of photos and enjoy!Good places to eat on your final day:Charleston Grille (Charleston Place Hotel)Magnolias (E. bay street)Cru Cafe (Pinckney St.)Fleet Landing (Concord)King Street Grille (King St.)Cypress (E. bay...

I am safe and sound after a 55.4 mile sail to Beaufort, SC yesterday. It was a lonely trip. I had time to think about a lot of things like world economics, if a medium drink is the smallest drink that a fast food place has isn’t it a small by reason of default, and why don’t sheep shrink in the rain.
I left Charleston at 5:30am and arrived at 18:30, to anchor about 4 miles from the marina. Once securely anchored I cooked a good dinner for one, took a shower out on the deck in front of e...

My friends and I traveled back to Charleston, SC for some fine food, fine women and beer! We caught the tail-end of Tropical Storm Fay but it didn't slow our plans at all!

On March 24, I went to the Mobile airport and picked up my good friend Mike who had just flown in from Honolulu. He and his family are moving to the Charleston area after several years in Honolulu and had asked if he could bunk in my RV until his family also arrived and I agreed. We started out for Charleston and stayed in the Elks RV park in Tallahassee the first night and then pushed on to the Lake Aire RV Park just outside Charleston on 3/26/07. I decided to take secondary roads up th...

Back in August me and the guys went to party down in Charleston, SC. This is one of the nicest and oldest cities in the US rich with history. It also has a great nightlife with great resturants and rooftop bars.

Another free weekend so why not check out Charleston. Wow, the architecture is amazing, food really good, beaches ok, and an excellent history.
We arrived late on Thursday and ate dinner at Tommy Condon's Irish Pub. Then walked out and grabbed a horse and carriage for a historical tour. I know, sounds cheesy, but it was informative and actually pretty fun. I was even mistaken for a celeb LOLOLOL.
Here's our hit list: Patriot's point, submarine and aircraft carrier as well as a Vietnam ...

Putting your home on the back of a truck and moving it over 200 miles to the coast calls for a strong drink.
