Chapelle Notre Dame de Bon Secours Nov 24, 2013
Chapelle Notre Dame de Bon Secours is a smaller church in the old port area of Montreal. First thing you see when you are walking around is a back dome covered with statues that look more like monument than the part of the church. This chapel used to be main church for sailors and boat captains which left some of the most interesting candle burners I have seen. They are in the shapes of the boats and hand from the church ceiling with the front and back light. Inside is made mostly of granite with interesting mix of decoration styles. Windows are covered with a nice stained glass. Nave is painted to depict the dimension and a bit of the French style. Very interesting organ is above the entrance. There are tours you can take at the door and learn more about this beautiful church. On the side there is a museum that I did not visit.
