Outstanding Thai Bar and Restraunt. May 04, 2011
Hopefully I won't understate quite how good this restaurant is. This is possibly the nicest restaurant I've ever eaten at, in fact I would go as far as to say it is my all time favorite.

The quality of the food and service at Chaophraya is unmatched by any other restaurant that I have eaten at. The only major disadvantage to this restaurant is it is quite expensive. The money is well worth it but those looking for budget eateries may wish to consider elsewhere. If, however, you are looking for a treat you have found one. The restaurant is relatively new in Liverpool as it is based on top of the recent Liverpool 1 development next to Debenhams. The restaurant is joined on to the Palm Sugar Lounge and is extremely aesthetically pleasing both internally and externally with a wonderful atmosphere. The service is prompt and polite and the staff aim to cater to just about any whim with a refreshing eagerness, it is increasingly rare that such a thing can be said about any chain restaurants.

The food is something truly amazing. It is prepared within eye shot as the Kitchen is on the ground floor and separated from you by glass so you can watch your food being prepared. The utmost care is taken with hygiene with kitchen staff wearing face masks for example. The dish I would have to recommend the most would be the Gaeng Massaman which is a curry made with coconut milk, cashew nuts, potato and either lamb or chicken according to your preference. Unlike in many Chinese/Thai restaurants, where the food is either heavily salted or a little greasy, Chaophraya's food is perfectly seasoned with a great selection of dishes varying in spice strength and you do not finish with a grease stained plate or dry mouth. Even the vegetarian dishes sound and look extremely appealing.

A great quirky feature worth mentioning to highlight the care and attention in this restaurant is the hot chocolate. It is prepared in front of you over a, what can only be described as, miniature, camping stove, the milk is heated over it and your choice of flavored chocolate is added in little buttons.

I cannot recommend Chaophraya more highly and would advise anybody visiting Liverpool to try it and see what you think.
