Away from bustling city crowd ... Oct 13, 2015
As you know Singapore is a small city with everything that you need packed carefully - like a Huge shopping mall. To stay in costly hotels in city means to compensate on the peace and serenity that you need while on vacation. Where to go ? Changi Village Hotel might be a good option. I have stayed there twice and below is a detailed review that might come handy for fellow travelers.

Location: 10 mins away from Changi Airport with shuttle service to take you back to the airport for your return trip.

Cost: Little above backpackers but definitely below luxury ones.

Attraction Nearby : The beautiful changi beach which can be seen from your window. Take a ferry to the untouched 'Pulau ubin' island where you could see giant lizards, wild boars and Hornbills.

Also, a golf course nearby for golf lovers. 24 hours food courts, shopping options and much more ...

Property: Clean rooms, guest lounges, roof top swimming pools, couple of in-house restaurants and friendly staffs make you feel at home.

Food: Haven't tried lunch or dinner but the breakfast spread is just awesome !

Negative point: Coffee cups were left dirty even after the room grooming and on-duty manager refused to accept the mistake. :(

Overall a fine property to stay in Singapore.

Not in the city but very convenient for an overnight stay in Singapore Oct 14, 2012
Changi Village Hotel is a reasonably priced four star hotel not far from the airport. It is comfortable. clean and efficient, but not your choice if you want a hotel close to the city center and all attractions of Singapore.

However, it is quite good for a stopover.

I had been upgraded to an executive room because of my presumed anniversary, and the room was spacious. It was located on the 6th floor which is the executive floor.

Being on that floor gives you access to the executive lounge with a very complete happy hour (any drinks you want plus lots of little snacks). It is an extremely comfortable lounge with also seating outside.

Complimentary breakfast is also served here, with a very good choice of foods for a club level lounge. The service of the people in that lounge and the very friendly attitude stood out!

As said, the hotel is far from Singapore city center, but close to the airport. It has its own nice center of Changi Villlage with many restaurants just next to the hotel.

Transportation from and to the airport is by hotel shuttle bus and can be arranged through the transportation services desk in the arrival hall (I think Terminal 2).

Haha, no, but one of the doormen finally asked the question that intrigued everyone: why the lady was not with me on the anniversary trip :P

Affordable luxury but far from the city Mar 12, 2011
Changi Village hotel is quite far from the city though Singapore itself is a small city. You'll find quite a few small pubs around.

The Buffet is good with a good variety of food and nice desserts.

The Internet is good but not real fast.

Good hotel with horrible bed Oct 10, 2010
Changi Village Hotel is located as the name says in Changi Village. It is close to the airport, but since they have blocked the road you have to drive all around the airport to get there. It took about 25 minutes and the cost was more than a taxi into town. They do have an airport shuttle, but I could not find any information on how to find it. It turned out that you have to contact the hotel desk in terminal 3. The pick up is every hour on the hour.

When I was finally at the hotel I was greeted by very friendly and helpful reception staff. I was told that my room was next to the executive lounge. At that point I did not know what it meant. Apparently I had booked an executive room. Had no idea as I had booked the cheapest room (which was not cheap) I could find at this hotel.

The room was of a good size and had all the amenities you might need, safety deposit box, trouser press, minibar, tea/coffee facilities and free WI-FI. I don´t know if the WI-FI was free just because it was an executive room. The only disappointment was the bed, it was absolutely horrible. Not only was it hard as a rock, but also very worn. Didn´t get much sleep and my whole body ached in the morning. I would probably have been better off on the floor. The bathroom was nice and clean and had lots of little toiletries. A different twist was the big window between the bathtub and the bedroom.

The breakfast buffet was good and had lots of things to choose from. The waiters in the restaurant were also very attentive. Next to the breakfast restaurant on the ground floor, there is also a Japanese restaurant and a bar and on the 10th floor an Italian restaurant.

The hotel has two pools, one on the ground floor and another one on the 10th floor with a good view of the area. There is also a Spa at the hotel.

The free airport shuttle leaves every hour on the hour and it took about 20 minutes to terminal 3. If you are going to terminal 2 you have to take the sky train from T3.

If it hadn´t been for the horrible bed I would no doubt have stayed here again.
