8 hours of waiting flew by like 1 hour in changi airport Mar 20, 2011
When flying into singapore i was wondering where is this amazing airport i had seen on tv? Little did i know we arrived in budget terminal. When stopping in singapore for a 8 hour change over from manila, we arrived in terminal 1.. This airport is huge! Never have i seen anything like it.. In the 8 hours i was there, i watched a movie, ate so much food, done some shopping, got a massage and even played some Playstation haha.. I wish that all airports were like changi!

Airports are hardly the place for solace. As a frequent traveler, the lesser time I spend at an airport, the better off I am. Some airports, most notably Amsterdam’s Schiphol, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai & Singapore among a handful of airports worldwide are good airports to transit through

Singapore’s Changi airport however is one that I have visited several times over the past fifteen years. Many airports have been built to compete with Changi and have been design marvels, such as the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Changi however has continued to be a consistently great airport.

With its indoor green spaces, ponds with fishes and play areas for children, the airport is the most functional and “user friendly” airport I have been through. Whether you want to enjoy some quite time in the Bamboo Garden or enjoy a massage, Changi is your place.

There are even two cinemas which play free movies around the clock. Besides the usual facilities offered by most international airport (such as shopping, restaurants, etc), Changi has its own unique offerings such as quiet areas, rest areas, family areas and if your transit is long enough, even the provision for a free Singapore city tour courtesy of Singapore Tourism.

If you are fortunate to fly through Singapore Airlines’ new Terminal 3, you will be in for a visual treat. While in Changi, catch the Skytrain (inter terminal train) and roam all the terminals. They all have something unique about them. The information desks are located conveniently in each terminal and the staff is friendly and very informative.

Kudos to the management of Changi Airport, for keeping such consistently high standards. Other airports have all used Changi as a model; even out designing Changi’s once unique beauty, but Changi still continues to be a warm, hospitable and most of all functional place for the most discerning of travelers
