A month long exploration of the sub-continent. I waited several years to be able to make this exploration, but it was worth it!

    Despite good intentions to take an early bus, I slept in quite a bit in the morning.  I then took my free newspaper from the hotel and got on a shared tempo to the bus station.  The next bus wasn't for an hour so I got to meet an English girl who was teaching in Dehra Dun and chat with her for a bit.  I had a butter sandwich at the bus station for breakfast, not so bad actually.  The bus ride to Chandigarh was supposed to be 6 hours, but took closer to 7...

We continued to Chandigarh to meet the niece of the former Maharaja of Faridkot (one of the former princely states of India).  She is officially a princess but the title carries few benefits these days.  Pat's father, Terrence had worked for the Maharaja.  Terrence re-married after Pat and most other family members left India after 1947.  Pat met his step-mother for the first time during this visit to Chandigarh!
