We continued to Chandigarh to meet the niece of the former Maharaja of Faridkot (one of the former princely states of India).  She is officially a princess but the title carries few benefits these days.  Pat's father, Terrence had worked for the Maharaja.  Terrence re-married after Pat and most other family members left India after 1947.  Pat met his step-mother for the first time during this visit to Chandigarh!     Despite good intentions to take an early bus, I slept in quite a bit in the morning.  I then took my free newspaper from the hotel and got on a shared tempo to the bus station.  The next bus wasn't for an hour so I got to meet an English girl who was teaching in Dehra Dun and chat with her for a bit.  I had a butter sandwich at the bus station for breakfast, not so bad actually.  The bus ride to Chandigarh was supposed to be 6 hours, but took closer to 7...

It was bak in the summer of 2006. Beautiful valleys of rishikesh looked even more scenic in the sun of summers. The trip organised by indiatimes made it even more earthly by going extra mile and making the preparations of our stay in a wonderful Dharamshala. The aura of the place was multiplied by the hospitality of people. Wonderful and nice place with delicious food. The rafting and camping on the next day filled the trip with all kinds of adventurous stuff. The adventure took its toll...
