Beautiful little, cosy bungalows in a garden-like setting with stunning views of the mountains and the sunset. Oct 06, 2008
Champa Lao is on the main party island on the banks of the Nam Song river. The main road of Vang Vieng where the beach-bars are located with music is not very far away. The location is very quiet and peaceful. The view from the terrace and from some bunglows/huts is spectacular.
The best view is from the terrace of the small restaurant with great food, which is up an adventurous staircase on the river bank. The style remains the basic bamboo structure with no frills. Champa Lao now have rooms for rent in a pair of adjacent traditional Lao hardwood houses on the mainland overlooking the bungalows/bamboo huts which is cozy which have down-to-earth theme, simple furnishings, shared bathroom facilities which is clean. There are adjacent huts for which you need to climb down some scary steps and independent huts on the other side of the river which is connected by a wooden bridge. In a great location, but not if you like an early night. Adjacent huts with shared bath on the river bank were around US$11 and individual huts with attached bath around US$20. Bamboo rooms were around US$4-8. This was in Sept 2007. |

Do not go to this guesthouse but if you do, watch your valuables around the workers Jul 16, 2009
myself and girlfriend stayed in the bungalows across the river for two days and on the last we came back to find an ipod and phone missing and a broked camera in its place. the door wasnt damaged and when we went up we were told that a falang (foreigner) was in the room two hours previously who managed to open the padlocked door with a key. they couldnt give us a description and started panicing when we wanted to get the police involved. we eventually found the phone a number of meters away nicely stashed behind a didused cabin but no sign of the ipod. im not insinuating that the owners had anything to do with it but one of the workers defiantly had and their attempts to circle the wagons and immediately blame a drunken foreigner when it was obiously one of their own pissed me off the most

…tubing so much that we had planned to go again today, but then through a combination of weather, sore arms and general laziness it turned in to a bit of a slow day. While I think of it I have to remember the name of the guesthouse here, Champa Lao, it's a hidden gem near the more well-known Riverside bungalows. Well worth the $3 a night… Vang Vieng - Day 3 |

Champa Lao bungalows, for 3 days. They have huts just on he banks of the Song river stream and the setting is really surreal, away from the partying crowds but still within reach of everything. I went for tubing for around 3 hours and came… Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng by Bus |
