Chaiten Vacation Guide
Chaiten is an entry point for the Northern Patagonia region of Chile. It is located on the Chilean mainland along the Gulf of Corcovado (Golfo de Corcovado).
The town is currently threatened by the eruption of a volcano of the same name (Chaiten Volcano) on May 2, 2008. The town has been evacuated and has been deemed off limits for at least a period of 3 months from mid-May 2008 due to the ashfall and flooding in the region.
