Ceuta ,Spains North Africa. Mar 02, 2017
Ceuta is a 18-5 km sq enclave of Spain on the North African coast sharing a border with Morocco. Seperated from the mainland Spain by the Straits of Gibraltar. Spanish is the offical language.--When Spain recognized Morocco s indepedence in 1956, Ceuta stayed under Spanish control.--Ceuta is dominated by the Monte Anyera, a hill along the border with Morocco, with a miliyary fort. Today there is a double fence on the border, because of migrants trying to get to Spain and the E.U.--- I had travelled from Algeciras Spain , near Gibraltar , on a ferry on a day trip. Ferries are for cars and foot passengers. There are at least 3 ferry companies, with many crossings, they take just over an hour. Ceuta has palm tree boulavards just like mainland Spain. .An enjoyable day out.Currency is the Euro.
