Cesky Tesin Overview

Cieszyn/Těšín is a border city between Poland and Czech Republic devided by Olza river into two separeted parts - each belonging to a different country.

Cieszyn is currently famous as the site of the Cieszyn Summer Film Festival (one of the most important festivals in Poland)and an important centre of the electromechanical industry.

Polish site of the city (Cieszyn) is rather historical, with lots of old tenement houses, Remnants of the Piast dynasty castle such as Piast Castle Tower or Gothical St. Mary Magdalene Church and with famous Old Town Square with bourgeoisie houses (from the XVth to XIXth century). This part of the city is often called "Little Vienna" as it is a combination of mixed Polish and Austrian style of the buildings.

Chech site of the city (Těšín) is more industrial.
