Ceske Budejovice Czech Republic. Apr 01, 2017
In Budejovice the train staion is 500m from. city centre. Bus station is opposite rail station. Bus is best to take from Budejovice to Ceske Krumlov.---- I stayed 2 nights at hotel Filip, about 500m from rail station. At the restaurant i had a good meal and beer for 183 kc.---- Budvar Pub , all visitors seem to head here,a well kept pub owned by the Budvar brewery a pint was 38 kc.in 2009.---- Most of the city centre buildings have archways in front of the shops, great if the weather wet,has it was when i was here. These buildings add to the charm of the place.----Samson Fountain in central square is a symbol of the city. The foutain is large in barque style by stonemason Zacharias Horn in 1721, is 17m high and 200m3 water.---- Black Tower is 72m high , completed in 1577 ,stands next to St Nicholas cathedral, open to public in the summer. Damaged by Nazi occupation , but mostly saved.----Most of the city centre is flat for walking. Budejovice was founded by King Ottokar of Bohemia in 1265,on low lying ground. Budejovice is famous for its beer "Budvar".There are 3 types of beer Original abv 5, Dark abv4-7 ,and strong matured for 200 days and only sold in bottles.----Trip to Cesky Krumlov is a hilly town in the bend of the river Vitava in Czech Republic. The castle is large and from 14th century and 19th century. The castle complex has 40 buildings. A nice trip out.
