Century Riverside Hue Hotel Reviews
A hotel which doesn't deserve 4 stars as they say they are Jun 04, 2011
Our flight from Ho Chi Minh to Da Nang had been delayed for 12 hours so we arrived at the hotel at around 2am instead of 4pm. We were very, very tired so we were looking forward to having a nice bed. But lo and behold, they nonchalantly told us that they are hoping that we don't mind if they give us a twin bed room for our first night because they gave away our supposed room by mistake and they would move us to a double bed room on our second night. I said that yes we do mind this very much and I asked if they could upgrade us to a suite or something since they made a mistake. The man at the check-in center said he was sorry but he couldn't do anything about it as the hotel was fully booked and he was just a receptionist. We asked to speak with the manager, but he said the manager had gone home. We asked if he could call the manager, he said he can't. So in short, we had no choice. But we demanded to speak with the manager during the later part of the morning.
The hotel supervisor (not the manager) did speak with us during the later part of the day. She apologized and tried to make up for the inconvenience. She gave us complementary massage and a little basket of fruits. I wish this could have changed my mind about my bad impression of the hotel, however, it did not. While I appreciate the gesture, objectively speaking, the massage was bordering below average to bad. I would actually not pay 10USD for that! The ladies who gave the massage were wearing skimpy denim shorts and a white t-shirt, they were not at all professionally dressed. The lady assigned to my husband even wanted to sit on his butt!
The room is clean and big, but the toilet needs some upgrading. They have a swimming pool that looks nice but is small. The breakfast area is big and has an outdoor area with a view of the river but the food is so-so. They serve Asian cuisine (fried rice, noodles, porridge, etc) and just a little western food but the bread is not fresh.
Hubby and I stayed here for 2 nights because we were under a tour group so we had no choice. If we had a choice, we would have definitely moved to another hotel after our first night's experience.
