The Centre for Alternative Technology was opened in 1973 - when there was concern about global warning and overuse of energy resources but it was not yet a subject on which everybody felt a need to pronounce. Hence the Centre can well claim to have been right up with the times, if not ahead.

After early struggles and dependence on volunteers, it has become a major European eco-centre. There are working examples of environmentally responsible buildings, renewable energy generation, sustainability in the home, organic growing, composting and waste management.

Why not a 5 grading? it may be mean but I have had a feeling that there was not quite enough each time I have been. If your main purpose is to buy or et advice on what to buy, i guess you might give it the full 5.
