Central Sofia Market Hall Jul 11, 2017
The beautiful Neo-Renaissance Central Sofia Market Hall was built in 1911. Its style is similar to the nearby Central Mineral Baths building and often regarded as the most outstanding word of Bulgarian architect Naum Torbov. The entrances and the corners have some very stylish decorations. Although it has not as many rented stalls as in its heydays, it is still a very vivid place in central Sofia with a good traditional market atmosphere.

If you visit the market hall, don't forget to visit the basement floor. You will find there some ruins of ancient Serdika, the Roman city which became today's Sofia. The ruins are part of a former fortress.
