guide a negative impression for folks never having been on a good ride May 02, 2016
This is not a good review, only because of the guide/narrator. I have done the carriage ride before with an excellent narrator/guide and it was amazing. It was Disappointing for my companions and I know they will never go again or recommend it. The guide and narration can make or break the carriage ride For the price the information and interaction of the guide made this a much too expensive ride. Such a shame. The guide - Giuseppe D'onofrio - I hope I correctly spell the name posted on the carriage - he had dark hair with a tiny pulled back pony tail. He talked on his phone often. I had to drag items of interest out of him by asking him about things I knew from previous great guide. Alot of the time he didn't know the answers or didn't care. This guide was either not knowledgeable of the park history, didn't care or both. Didn't know about the London Plane trees that line the carriage path and have a paint splotched look, brought in by Robert Moses. He did know Olmsted was responsible in part for Central Park development. Most answers were - I don't know. This time it was truly a waste of time and money.
