Central Hotel Athens
Central Hotel Athens Reviews
Apr 03, 2006I stayed at this hotel several times in 2003 and 2004. The rooms are very beautifully appointed. The beds are very comfortable (however, be sure to ask for a matrimonial bed rather than a double if you are a couple, because the doubles are two twin beds), there is in-room ADSL access which I found to be very fast when I hooked my laptop up to it (I do not think there is wireless access, so you'll need a cable). There were no balconies to speak of, although the windows do open. I have stayed on both sides of the hotel; some rooms have a view of the Acropolis, so if this is important to you, be sure to ask. The breakfast is good -- I don't know how much extra it costs now, but when I stayed there it was included, and quite good. The reception staff were helpful and there is a secure luggage storage facility if you are leaving the city for a few days. The bathrooms are beautifully done with really soft towels, comfortable shower stall with a nice modern shower, attractive, etc. However, you might want to know in advance that part of the bathroom wall is clear glass (not smoked glass, as the bathroom door is). This is the wall between the bathroom and your hotel room, not with the exterior corridor. However, there is a significant loss of privacy in the bathroom due to this clear glass. (The shower stall also has a clear glass wall and no curtain, so this will not protect you!) Click on the "Central Hotel" link at the top of this review for directions and contact info for the hotel. |

Then train into town, hotel on Athinas (really central) -- the Attalos Hotel that everyone on TT recommends, and I figured I'd give it a shot -- it's actually where we're staying with the kids as well, so all I have to do is switch rooms in an hour… Setting out... |
