CenterHotel Klöpp, Reykjavík Reviews
Nice hotel but be prepared for noise and sunlight Jul 01, 2008
First let me start by saying that this is a very nicely maintained hotel in a perfect location. Rooms were small but very clean with very nice bathrooms. Great value for money by Icelandic standards.
Parking is nog problem im the sidestreets of Klapperstigur street down the direction of the harbour. Now the downside: on friday and saturday night the music from the bar (Club 13) oppposite the hotel was ridiculously loud. There were no visitors so in order to get attention they opened their doors and windows until at least 4 am. This calls for some quality earplugs otherwise sleeping is really hard. Another factor in sleap depravation was the constant sunlight during summer. This would be no problem but the lack of quality curtains is really unbelievable. There were some undercurtains but they don't suffice in any way. Really bad feature I think. All in all a nice hotel but wouldn't recommend it to those that sleep light. - Eric - |

I have stayed at the Klöpp three times now and have loved every single time. It is perfectly situated in the middle of the 101 Reykjavík district and exceptionally well located to the bars/clubs Sirkus, Kaffibarinn, and Vegamót. My favourite bars are further down 101, in Bankastraeti, and that is only an additional 5 minutes away. The huge Hallgrímskirkja church is only 5 minutes walk away, and if you are lucky enough to get a top floor balcony room, you get cracking views of the mountains.
The rooms are small, functional and was perfect for a stay in Reykjavík (Reykjavík is not the kind of place you would want to spend a lot of time in your hotel room). The bathrooms are small, modern, and pretty funky. Breakfasts are great (all-you-can-eat cold buffet) and keep you going well into the afternoon. I am not staying at the Klöpp on my next visit, as I am a tad skinto at the moment and travelling on my own, but would if I could. Part of the Iceland - March 2007 travel blog |
