Celica Hostel Ljubljana Reviews

Certainly an unusual place to stay Nov 16, 2013
Staying at the Celica hostel is certainly an experience - sometimes touted as among the best hostels in the world. A former prison has been tastefully converted into a hostel, with each room designed by an artist/architect to both retain the 'prison cell' feel as well as add some novel artistic elements. While the novelty of the rooms may wear out after a few days of staying there, the hostel itself is also lovely, even if a bit pricey compared to others in the city. It is immaculately clean, has three restaurant areas, attentive staff, numerous musical and other events every day, and is located in one of the most alternative parts of the city, Metalkova. Very close to the train station and not far from the city centre, the location is great too. Metalkova itself is worth a visit even if you do not stay at Celica - it's an alternative hangout with interesting graffiti and tit-bits everywhere inside a walled compound, pubs and concert venues, and a happening crowd that is unabashedly into drinks, drugs, piercings and tattoos.
