Nice hotel with beautiful location Oct 08, 2008
We choose Celal Sultan for its central location in Sultanahmet. And how central it was, appeared when we opened the curtains of our room (no. 315): we had a great, non-interrupted frontal view of the Aya Sofya at a distance of less than 150 meters! Still the noice reduction was perfect, for we didn't hear the imam calling with closed windows.
What we did hear -and kept us awake- were other guests on the terrace just above our room. So, keep this in mind when booking a room in this hotel. Another disadvantage of our room was that the bath didn't have a plug and although we told the reception and although someone had a look, this was never fixed. So no bath during our 5 day stay. This really is a shame for a superior room!!! Still, I can recommend this hotel for its location and style. About food and drinks: we had some nice cocktails at the bar. We didn't have dinner at the restaurant, but the breakfast buffet was excellent. |

This hotel is located in the best part of Istanbul. 5-10 minute walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace,
Hippodrome, Underground Cistern, Grand Bazaar, and Spice Bazaar. Wonderful staff, good food, and nicely elegant rooms. Definetaly worth coming back to Istanbul and staying here. |
