Cedar Creek Falls Mount Tamborine Reviews
Amazingly private waterfalls and rockpools Oct 26, 2010
Cedar Creek is one of the nicest places I have ever visited in Australia. It's a bit of a trek in the car to get to, but once you're there you don't want to leave.
There's a small car park buried deep in the rain forest up on Mt. Tamborine. You park up there and then head south through a small forest trail (it's clearly marked). You come to a small bridge which will lead you over a stream and to another walkway which then leads you to a few viewpoints of the creek. The road forks in two with the left road taking you to more view points then eventually to the bottom of the road and the right road takes you to the bottom of the creek much faster.
Once you reach the bottom of the path you are faced with a stunning waterfall cascading in to a series of rockpools.
There are signs around saying it is not advisable for people to swim in the rockpools but everybody does.
It's a perfect place to go and relax - take some food, swimming gear and sun tan lotion and you're set for the day!
Not many people visit Cedar Creek and so we've found it's always quiet. The busiest it's ever been was when there were 3 other people there. It's fantastic!
I'd be careful if you go there after heavy rainfall as the water can be quite strong and easily knock you off your feet - however when it's calm it's just a perfect place to relax.
There are so many different types of wildlife in the area too! We've been there a few times and managed to see a few Goanna Lizard's and a few snaked (non dangerous ones!).
With the water constantly flowing there isn't much wildlife in the water. The odd eel will be in the lower rock pools but other than that it's just really small fish.
It's certainly worth a visit!
