Cedar City Overview

Cedar City is the second largest city in southwestern Utah after Saint George. There is a university (Southern Utah University) in town, and on the campus of SUU is the Tony Award winning Utah Shakespearian Festival. Each season, the Utah Shakepearian Festival chooses a new lineup of plays (some Shakespeare, some not) that they perform in various theaters, one of which is outdoor. Along with the Shakespearian Festival, Cedar CIty hosts many other yearly events and the city is often referred to as The Festival City.

Another reason to visit Cedar City is its proximity to the National Parks of southern Utah. Cedar City is a perfect base to visit Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion Canyon National Park, Kolob Canyon (part of Zion NP), the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and Lake Powell. It is also a very short drive to Brian Head ski resort, which offers skiing and snowboarding in the winter and beautiful mountain biking and hiking in the summer months. The Dixie National Forest is also a perfect place to camp or rent a cabin during the warm summer months!

Be sure to visit this town, see a play, and visit the national parks!
