Part of paradise..... Apr 01, 2017
We went up to Cayo Jutias from Puerto Esperanza directly as we had a car but you can do this from Viñales as a day tour costing around 25 CUC with the bus and lunch included. There is no payment to get onto the Cayo now, just follow the road out from Santa Lucia. This is where your Spanish, or lack of it will come in useful, absolutely no signposts anywhere. Follow your nose or ask, as we did. In some guides the beach is given as much as 7 kms long, but when there part of the road has disappeared into the sea and there's no way you can get any further other than walking in the sea. So you're left with a band of sand about 5/600 metres long, wide enough for loungers (payment required) and space to walk behind. Parking is also to pay (1CUC)**. There are a couple of small bars with burgers and sandwiches, a diving outfit, some pedalos etc etc and the beautiful turquoise water. Very relaxing, as there were not many people out there, certainly not foreign tourists.

**I don't know why but the fella taking the parking money told us the parking???? closed at 18h00. Strange as it's just the end of the road, unless they do actually close the road through the mangroves off at 18h00. As we left at 16h30, I couldn't verify this.
Splendid Cayo Jutias
