The power of hospitality can turn a mediocre vacation into something spectacular. For example, after meeting a Sicilian guy in Florence, he promised to get us in touch with his friends in Sicily. We didn't know what to expect, but Alessio and Rodolfo met us at the airport, called in sick all weekend to show us around, gave us a room to sleep AND cooked us dinner twice! Best of all though, they showed us all the best sites unknown to typical tourists.

Hello, welcome to Sicily, Italy! Sicily is the largest (25,460 sq km) and most important island in the Mediterranean, where it occupies a central position. Sicily still retains some of its age-old traditions both in the working and social fields.

I spent 7 days in Sicily and a day in Rome (and about a day in the air getting there and back). We toured all over Sicily (Ortigia, Siracusa, Catania, Taormina, and Agrigento) and our final night was in Rome.
The trip was incredible! This was my first time leaving my home continent, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place to go.

i've finally managed to escape the oh-so-fascinating world of hedge fund finance, and am now decadently indulging my long-suppressed wanderlust with 15 months on the road and around the world... *note: apart from the odd review (generally of something not found in your standard guide book), this is really more just a map of my travels than a proper blog, but if you want more information on anywhere i`ve been or what i`ve been up to, send me a message and i`ll see if i can rustle something up.
