Catalunya Vacation Guide
Catalunya is a region in South-West European which is a top tourist attraction. Catalunya has it's own language, Catalan, which is a romance language coming from Latin. Many residents of Catalunya consider the region not to be part of Spain. It was joined to Castille in the fifteenth century when Ferdinand of Aragon married Queen Isabella.
Its capital city is Barcelona, noted for its modernist movement in architecture, with such artists as Gaudi and Puig i Cadafalch. The most stunning of these modernist buildings is the world famous, though incomplete, Sagrada Familia. Barcelona houses the 'Camp Nou' or New Field, the famous soccer stadium, home of FC Barcelona. For nightlife there are excellent beach parties and clubs around Barcelona.
But there's more than just Barcelona. The natural landscape is breath-taking. Take a tour outside the city as the hills and villlages are beautiful. Only one hour north of Barcelona is the largest volcanic land in Spain. The eastern Pyrenees (though some are part of France) still retain much of the Catalan rural culture as well as the country of Andorra where Catalan is also spoken.
