Catalonia Duques de Bergara Hotel Barcelona

The worst hotel experience I ever had in 30 years of travel. $150 for a room that is the smallest that I have ever seen. (It was not the room in the Internet site pictures). All aspects of this experience were terrible. Even when I departed and asked for a taxi, the ride to the airport was twice the normal amount because the driver said I made a taxi reservation at the hotel.

Unfortunately,ripping off tourists, may be a theme in Barcelona. Probably a good idea to be very careful.

First and foremost, the Duques de Bergara was very ideally located. The hotel is one block/street from Las Ramblas, one block/street from the Tourista bus stop, and walking distance from all of the shopping. My travel agent definitely booked the right hotel for us in Barcelona.

The hotel room we had was fairly spacious. The bathroom was big enough for all 3 women to stand in front of the mirror and put our makeup on at the same time. =) The only major problem was that the hotel does not provide an iron in each room. They only provide "ironing service" at about 10 euros per article of clothing. Also, they do not have a gym, but a small pool. This was not an issue, as I didn't have any free time to relax by the pool or use a gym (if it were even available).

They had a wide selection for continental breakfast, which was included with the hotel reservation. I highly recommend this hotel, if not for the location alone.
