Castle Inn and Suites Anaheim Reviews
More like the Dungeon Inn than the Castle Inn Dec 27, 2009
Castle Inn is such a perfect name for a motel near Disneyland. We pulled in after dark. We were so excited to be staying there... it's painted so cute on the outside with a castle medevial theme. There were no parking places and we asked at the desk what to to. They said just park anywhere and indicated an area to the side of the lot. That advice was very bad as we got a very expensive ticket (in their lot!) for being in a fire lane. We didn't know about that until morning.
The evening we arrived we got a room on the lower floor. The room wasn't the cleanest and we noticed the toilet definately needed cleaning and scrubbing. The carpet was wet but after we discovered it we just wore our shoes. It didn't seem like a big deal: AT FIRST. Later, when the toilet was flushed we found out why the carpet was wet... it soaked the carpet ... it was really upsetting because it was obvious from the condition of the carpet and the toilet that the problem was pre-existing. BUT THEY STILL RENTED THE ROOM!
I went to the front desk as the telephone didn't work. Eventually a cheery but ineffective man came to work on the toilet... but the carpet was still wet with sewer water... ugh... I went back to the front desk where they informed me we needed to wear our shoes as they were full and there was nowhere for us to move to.... We were really upset as it was unsanitary and inconvenient. We did have the comfort of having a toilet again ... until it was flushed about 4 AM and we experienced another eruption....
I went back to the front desk.... They were quite annoyed that I was harassing them over a problem they were already aware of.... They insisted we contact the manager in the morning. So we basically had no bathroom, inability to use the shower in the morning, soaked carpet and all of our luggage and us on our beds....
The next morning we contacted the manager. They thought they would be able to move us around 1 PM or so.... We had found the ticket on the car and said it was our responsibility .. true: but an apology would have been nice because their night desk person told us to park there.
They refused completely to refund our night of no sleep ... In their eyes it wasn't a problem that we had a wet carpet and no toilet. The manager (a woman) finally agreed to change the price downward by $25.00. That was the only concession she would make. She refused to let us cancel our room that night as it wasn't 24 hours notice (so we cancelled the 3rd and 4th night). It put a hole in our day when we had to return to the hotel to move rooms. They refused to move our luggage from one room to the other... The second room we got was poorly maintained and the carpets were stained (but they were dry!)
I could never recommend this motel. The personnel were rude and uncompromising even when it was apparent the room was disgusting and uninhabitable. For us it was the Horrible Dungeon Inn... And we don't like sleeping in dungeons.
