Castillo De San Felipe Oct 04, 2012
Castillo De San Felipe is a small fort made on the bay to protect Spanish interest in the area. Now days it looks like tourist trap, definitely renovated and with nice park around it so that people can enjoy in nature, swimming and good old picnic time. I wanted to walk to the Castillo from the Rio Dulce, and it took me good hour and a half, but it is easy and pleasant walk if you have enough water. The most interesting part of the “castle” are original canons with nice engravings. Other good thing is that castle can be explored freely and on your own time. Fee to get in is few dollars but you get very funny and well designed ticket/map with explanations about history of the area.
