Castel Coira (Churburg in German) is a castle overlooking the village of Sluderno.

It was built between 1253 and 1258 by the bishop of Chur. Fifty years later it passed to the counts of Matsch. It has been owned by the Trapp family since 1504.

Several rooms of the castle are opened to visitors. Visits are only on guided tours in various languages.

Castel Coira has a beautiful Reinassance loggia with vaulted arches. It is decorated with some fables of Phaedrus; with a The Trapps family tree and other topics. You will admire the Jacob room; built in XVI; a room with lots portraits, a armoury with a rich collection of armoirs.

The castle is opened from march 20 until october 31. It is closed on mondays.

It is not allowed to take pics inside the castle rooms.
