Casita Miro - wines on the hill Dec 14, 2016
The Casita Miro is one of the many vineyards on Waiheke Island when we arrived at the harbor we suggested to go here and have lunch. The restaurant is only open for lunch so if you stay overnight you will have to find dinner another place.

The restaurant is located on the top of a hill so you got a good view of the wine yards during your lunch. You can choose between snacks to accompany wine, tapas style dishes and then a couple of bigger dishes which is actual meals.

Unfortunately there was a power outage going on when we visited the restaurant so they had only a limited number of the dishes available. They did have some lamb and a few tapas dishes including some bread with olive oil and humus to eat first – it arrived quickly so it could help with the immediate hunger. The food really should be washed down with some of the locally produced beverages which are very nice – both the white and red.

The service was friendly and we noticed that they did have sort of an unusual uniform as some of the female staff was wearing earrings made out of the cork from bottles with the name of the vineyard.

The rest of the tapas came relatively quickly and we filled up on the food. But considering the great recommendations this place had gotten at the ferry terminal as the place to go for lunch I feel the food didn’t quite live up to the expectations.

Average food Dec 14, 2016
The restaurant located at the beautiful Waiheke Island in New Zealand.

At the time we dine there, we do not know the restaurant is specialising in Spanish cuisine, as the information centre in Waiheke Island recommended this place for lunch while we were in the island.

So, we went there for lunch and to try the cuisine.

The restaurant itself look pretty and very relaxing with the view of vineyard, and they have their own wines.

Unfortunately when we were there, they do not have an electricity so they said they can not serve some of the food from the menu, so the menu selection was very limited. The staff was friendly but it takes some times to take our order.

We order several food to try, unfortunately I found the food was quite average and not as good as the food in Spain itself. However a couple of our next door table was crazy about the Potatoes and recommend it to us (yes, we talked with the people next table since in NZ, most people just talk to each other even they did not know the person).

Ah well, at least we were full and enjoy the view.
