Cases at Centre Point Reviews
Nov 28, 2007
At Centre Point, there are a few cases where customers have been robbed, beaten up, etc.
So please try to use the escalators instead of the lifts/elevators when you are alone and keep your personal belongings in a safe place. I’ve heard of many other cases which have happened at Centre Point but they never showed up on the news. We should be alert anywhere we go in the world, not just Centre Point. Here’s one article: Youth fights off trio at Centre Point Kota Kinabalu: Shoppers merely watched as a 19-year-old fought with three foreigners who tried to rob him and his nephew between the ground and first floor stairway at the Centre Point shopping mall, Monday. The youth suffered a bruised lip while the foreigners ran towards Api Api Centre before splitting into different directions. The youth and his 18-year-old cousin were window-shopping on the first floor when he ran into two friends and began to chat up, while his cousin toyed with the youth's Nokia 6600 handphone. Suddenly, the robbers aged between 16 and 24, appeared and one of them, took the cousin to the back row of shops near the toilet. The suspect told the cousin to let him hold the phone and collect it later on the ground floor. The two then began to tug at the handphone and the suspect managed to wretch it away and put it in his pocket. The complainant, still chatting with his friends, realised something was fishy when he saw his cousin no longer holding the handphone. He headed in the direction of the two when another suspect blocked his way by putting his hands on the youth's shoulders, saying "there is nothing wrong, just relax". This then led to the fight. At one stage, the youth managed to slam the head of one of the suspects to the floor by pulling his long hair down. According to the victim, one of suspects spoke in Filipino accent and reeked of alcohol while another had Indonesian accent. "No security guards came to help me throughout the two minutes I was fighting the two," the youth lamented, adding he also shouted for help during the fight. -Daily Express |
