Caserta Vacation Guide

Caserta is located in the Region of Campania, south of Italy. It is renowed because of his Royal Palace, and almost every tourist that arrives in Caserta goes there with one target: to visit it. The Reggia di Caserta is called the Italian Versailles because of the palace and the garden as well. The Royal Palace was designed by Luigi Vanvitelli in the mid 18th century on commission of the king of Charles VII, King of Naples and Sicily. It's said that he wanted his own Versailles, the most beautiful palace at the time.

After 2 years living in Spain I decided that was the time to go to Italy. I have to save a lot of money, but it worth it. I made the typical tourist route but by my own, Milan, Venice, Florence, Pisa, Rome. When the money was over, I had to return to Spain but, 8 months later I went back to Italy to visit Naples, Caserta, Pompeya, Positano, Lucca, Cinque Terre and Portovenere. It was a very hot summer (2003) but I had a great moment there!

Naples,or better known as Napoli. A bizarre city, dangerous sometimes, but full of ancient history and breathless views. Forget all the touristic bits, one of the thing you will must see once there is Napoli sotterranea (naples underground city),a visit through under the modern city built on top of a greek amphitheater and romans house. Caserta city with the second biggest castle in europe after Versailles, Pompeii and the amazing conservation, and Capri island, are not too far from Naples.
