Cascade Niagara Sainte-Suzanne Reviews
A real gusher Oct 17, 2011
A brilliant waterfall just outside of Sainte-Suzanne, Cascade Niagara comes heartily recommended. Signposted off of the N2, the falls is easy to reach by driving a few kilometers along narrow roads gently weaving through sugar cane fields. Like many spots around the island, there is plenty of room to park and the grassy area in front of the falls is ideal for a picnic
The bonus attraction is how the falls empties into a broad, shallow pool to make a perfect swimming hole. Several folks were taking the plunge during our visit, refreshing themselves and even swam right up to where the water was tumbling down. Can’t say that struck me as a bright idea, but I didn’t notice any signs warning of falling rocks (usually spotted whenever swimming is permitted at the bottom of a falls). Cascade Niagara is an excellent spot to stop and savor nature’s beauty, its broad descent offering quite an array of splash points. When we enjoyed Cascade Niagara there was a healthy volume of water flowing through, adding an impressive sound show to the spectacle.
As you face the falls there is a stream on your left, and a pretty trail can be followed a brief distance. The path is calming and passes a stand of bamboo where visitors have cut hearts and initials to testify of their current romance. A brilliant spot to savor nature and grab a bit of calm for your soul.
