Wetlands and Environmental Science Center Jun 12, 2011
The Cascade Meadow Wetlands & Environmental Science Center is a new attraction in Rochester--it opened in June 2011. The science center is a good place to take kids to--it teaches them about conserving energy around the house through a variety of hands-on exhibits to learn about energy, as well as the importance of water in southeast Minnesota, and things like rain water run off into the local rivers and lakes, and water usage, and what can and should be done to keep our environment clean and safe. They also have a couple of short trails around the parking lot for renewable energy--solar panels and wind turbines, as well as a sustainability rain water trail. This is the Science Center portion of Cascade Meadow.

They will also have an environmental walking trail which will lead visitors on a longer trail through different types of habitat that can be found in Minnesota and include a butterfly habitat as well. This is still in process and not quite open to the public yet.
