A little bit of a tourist trap... Aug 29, 2011
This house was a convent built for dominic nuns in the XVIII century. The design is quite simple, but still nice and beautiful to see. The attraction of it is precisely the 11 patios and the many rooms in which you can see a lot of exhibitions of handcrafts and souvenirs.

That's precisely the reason why I am not recommending this place. It is advertised as if it was some kind of museum, but it is really a store, or a collection of them. I am sure that the prices here are more expensive that if you bought handcrafs in other places. So, that's why I think it's a bit of a tourist trap, you are brought into a store when you think you are going to an exhibition.

But at least, it's fair to say that the vendors are not as obnoxious as in other places I have been to. You can just walk around and nobody bothers you.

Visit this place if you really want to buy some handcrafts or if you have some free time in Patzcuaro. But this place is by no means a must in this town.

Thanks! It is nice, but I guess it wasn't as special as other parts of the city I visited :)
